About NHLGPA

The North Heron Lake Game Producers Association Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, nonprofit conservation organization that was organized with the intention of protecting and restoring North Heron Lake.

North Heron Lake is a 1,000-acre shallow lake that serves as an important resting and feeding area for thousands of migrating waterfowl each year. Although NHLGPA was granted nonprofit status in the 1960s, the landowners around the lake and many local citizens were active long before that. In the early 1900s, concerned individuals signed a document known as the 1906 Agreement. This agreement stated that waterfowl hunting would only occur at certain times of the day and disturbance would be limited to provide migrating waterfowl a chance to feed and rest.

NHLGPA remains dedicated to protecting the ecology of North Heron Lake, as well as to promoting its amazing history. For more information about NHLGPA, please contact by mail: NHLGPA,
